Joan's diary documents her experience with Linda Evans while they toured in Legends. It's a real-life Valley of the Dolls. But facts are facts: Linda Evans was horrible AND she does have a trout pout. I can barely look at that ponem without shuddering; I can't imagine having to play off it every night on stage.
That said, it's also an interesting take on what it's like to work in live theatre. Comments every night from stage manager, choreographing fights, trying new bits (within directorial context, of course), etc. A fun read.
